Hearty congratulations to Don Sekarage Tilak Piyalal, who emerged as the TOCO overall Stop Work Authority Champion for the month of January 2021!
Tilak, a Mechanic working in our Fahud (PDO) contract observed that a Senior member of an external authority walking into our workshop wearing a bump camp instead of a proper safety helmet. Without any fear or inhibitions about the rank / authority of the person involved, Tilak intervened and requested the visitor to wear a proper safety helmet which he obliged. The person who received the correction thanked Tilak for doing the right thing.
Tilak’s intervention was entered into the monthly SWA competition and eventually voted to be the best among seven other nominations.
Members of TOCO’s Senior Leadership Team and management staff visited Fahud to celebrate this award and recognize Tilak as the ‘Stop Work Authority Champion’ for the month of January 2021. On this occasion, Mark Dean, TOCO General Manager, gave a short and impactful message regarding the importance of Stop work authority (SWA) within our business. A certificate, gift and an ‘SWA Champion’ branded coverall was handed over to the winner.
