Hearty congratulations to Amar Jeet , who emerged as the TOCO overall Stop Work Authority Champion for the month of September 2021!
Amar is a Piping and PTW Foreman working in our Safah and Wadi Laitham project. His crew was assigned to offload a consignment of 4” pipes. The team had already made all necessary preparations and planning including a lifting plan which was based on 4” pipes bundled into sets of 10 and weighing approximately 1.5 MT.
As the pipes arrived and the crew was about to start unloading, Amar thought of doing his final checks. To his surprise, the pipe bundles had 16 pipes instead of 10 as per the norm. This means the weight to lift will be nearly double and the lift plan will have to re-done.
He immediately intervened and raised ‘Stop Work’. The lifting authority was informed and the lift plan was updated to reflect the site condition. Everyone within the crew was briefed and checklist was re-done and activity resumed.
Amar’s intervention may have averted a potential lifting failure. As a token of appreciation from the management, he received a certificate, gift and an ‘SWA Champion’ branded coverall. Congratulations!
